Gia Iyer is a sophomore at George Washington University double majoring in International Affairs and International Business, with a concentration in International Development and a minor in Political Science. She interned for the NJ State Assembly in high school, after which she joined College Democrats of America as a Communications Associate. Eventually, she became the Deputy Communications Director before being elected to her current position. Outside of organizing, Gia works with the communications team for one of GWU’s International Affairs journals and is a member of her school’s parliamentary debate team.

After experiencing the bias and prejudice that follows misinformation firsthand, Gia strongly advocates for increasing civil education. As such, she plans to use her platform at College Democrats of America to fight incendiary messaging and promote empathy in politics. In the near future, she would like to take the Foreign Service Officer Test and work for the US Department of State as a public diplomacy officer.
