MEET THE PRESIDENT
Carolyn Salvador Avila
Carolyn is currently a Bachelor of Arts candidate on the PreLaw track at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, majoring in Abnormal and Criminal Psychology, and minoring in Public Policy at the Brookings Institution. Carolyn’s record in legislative affairs and governmental relations speaks for itself, having just completed an internship at the United States Senate office of Senator Cortez Masto in Washington, D.C. As the Director of the not-for-profit Chilean American Association and Outreach Coordinator of the UNLV Young Democrats Chapter, she has showcased her interest in public service and network building. She continuously demonstrates this interest throughout her roles as Vice President of the College Democrats of Nevada and as the former National Director of Development for the College Democrats of America. She nurtures her aspirations of becoming a practicing attorney for the United States Marines through her role as Vice President of the UNLV Competitive Mock Trial Team, where she showcases the public communication and policy research skills she used during the 2022 midterm elections as a bilingual spokesperson for the Latinx youth community. She continues to represent the youth and Latinx communities as an Advisor at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. During her free time, Carolyn promotes her Latin culture through musical performance as a classically trained professional violinist for politicians, sports entities, the Latin Chamber of Commerce, and the Young Artists Orchestra of Las Vegas.
