MEET THE NATIONAL COUNCIL SECRETARY

Matthew Mobley Marcil

Matthew is currently a student at Suffolk University in Boston, where he studies Political Science with a minor in Philosophy. He got his start in local politics back in 2020, getting to know his local Democratic Town Committee and the leaders who most directly affected the lives of him and his neighbors. From this curiosity about local politics came a fascination with government, how it works, who it supports, and how it can be better for the people. He continued this passion through working several internships during High School and into College, at the local, state, and federal levels.

When Matthew moved to Boston, he continued his involvement by joining the College Democrats chapter at Suffolk University, where he became President after all previous members graduated. After rebuilding the club nearly from scratch, Matthew became the Northeast Regional Director for the College Democrats of America, where he focused on reconnecting the various chapters throughout the region and helping local leaders to rebuild their State Federations and ensure lasting connections.

Outside of politics, Matthew is incredibly passionate about history and anthropology, especially with how the past continues to affect the present and the future. After graduation, he intends on continuing his studies in Public Administration, while also exploring the field of Social-Anthropology, and how past human societies have had ripple effects that are still seen today.
