WASHINGTON D.C. - July 8th, 2024 - As College Democrats, we serve as grassroots organizers of the democratic cause and are those most impacted by the results of the upcoming election. We spend innumerable hours, going door to door to speak with voters as well as organizing our peers who overwhelmingly vote blue. Additionally, looming effects of climate change, increasing income inequality, rising costs of home ownership, record levels of polarization, growing distrust in our democratic system, and unwavering global injustice are bound to debilitate our lives for the coming decades if we fail to secure the Presidency in November.

Hence, none of us tuned in to the presidential debate as undecided voters; we are well aware of the stakes of this election, and feel them on a personal level. The threat posed to America by a second Trump Administration cannot be overstated, and the possibilities that come with returning a democrat to the White House give us genuine hope for this country’s future. We believe it is our duty as individuals committed to the democratic cause, to work to elect democratic candidates up and down the ballot, especially to the Presidency.

Therefore, we proudly reaffirm our commitment to supporting whoever receives our party’s presidential nomination at the DNC Convention in Chicago this August, as well as democrats across the country vying for the Senate, House, state legislatures and other down ballot seats. In an era as unprecedented as today, we must be willing to unite behind whoever the candidate may be, whether it is our current president or someone else, as well as democrats within our respective local communities. With our democracy at stake, we must stand united for the greater good of our nation and defend our sacred governing system at all levels.
