WASHINGTON, D.C.- March 7th, 2025 - The House of Representatives decision to censure Representative Al Green for protesting during Donald Trump's speech is a blatant attempt to silence dissent and deflect from the real issue at hand: Trump's cruel and damaging policies. This censure is political theater, designed to intimidate those who refuse to stay silent in the face of injustice. The real outrage should be directed at the policies that sparked Representative Green's protest in the first place- Medicaid cuts that will disproportionately harm low-income families, seniors, and people with disabilities.

As Senator Elissa Slotkin said best, "Some of the most important movements in our history have come from the bottom up." So we, as Democrats, organizers, and college students from across the country, urge Congress to prioritize meaningful discussions on healthcare, social services, and the protection of essential programs.
